KTM faz promoção com RC8 e X-bow no Vienna Ringstrasse

KTM turns Vienna's Ringstrasse orange with Marquez, the RC8R and KTM X-Bow

Ahead of what is KTM's home GP in the Czech Republic next weekend, the Austrian manufacturer was out in force in Vienna on Wednesday to prove it is always "Ready to Race" by adding plenty of zesty Orange to a promotion for the MotoGP in Brno.

The famous Ringstrasse, which circles the inner city and is lined by some of the city's most famous buildings, was closed to traffic and given over to selected riders from the 125, 250 and MotoGP classes, including KTM's own factory rider, 16-year old Spaniard Marc Marquez of the Red Bull KTM Moto Sport team.

And as the promotion for the Brno GP drew a very large crowd of thrill-seeking motor sports fans, KTM also treated them to a "close up and personal" encounter with the company's new RC8R Super Bike and the cutting edge KTM X-BOW sports car. The KTM RC8R is currently contesting its first year in the IDM, the German International Superbike championship and with just two rounds left to contest Stefan Nebel of the KTM Superbike Team Germany is currently second in the championship standings. The X-BOW, the most uncompromising sports car currently in existence drew "need for speed" fans like moths to a flame. The sleek, eye-catching racer that is also homologated for road use was first released onto the market in 2008 and in the same year won the GT4 SuperLight European Cup with Christopher Haase at the helm. Three KTM drivers also took the first three places in the Sports Light series.

Another major attraction for the Austrian fans was the presence of ski racer Matthias Lanzinger onboard a specially adapted standard model RC8 bike. Lanzinger was a prominent member of the Austrian National Ski Team when he lost his leg in a tragic racing accident in December 2005. KTM has modified his white RC8 Superbike so that he can change gears on the left side of the bike using a hand control. Lanzinger joined the MotoGP racers and the X-BOW in the parade ride along the Ringstrasse that was punctuated with wheelies and burnouts that thrilled the thousands of people who turned out for the inner city show.

The KTM MotoGP bike, the RC8R Superbike and the X-BOW are a dazzling array of examples of the company's dedication to motor racing, which has also rewarded them with countless world championship titles.

Meanwhile for the young Marquez, revving up on the Ringstrasse was a unique experience. He joined his racing comrades to bring the adrenalin rush of racing to Austrian fans right on their historic boulevard. Later he and the other riders addressed the huge crowd that swarmed across the Ringstrasse in front of the country's Parliament House and then signed autographs.

Speaking about his experiences in his first year of racing 125 cc in the World Championship, Marquez said it had been a hard but exciting year where he had tried to gather as much experience as possible. "You have to push hard with every lap and you have to work on getting some good experience. But I like that. I like the good fights we have on the track," he said, adding that this weekend in Brno he hoped to stay with the front group and make a podium. He said his 125cc RR machine, thanks to hard work by his team and KTM Technical Director Harald Bartol, was now very competitive and he was confident of a good race on Sunday.

Mixed fortunes for KTM at IDM Superbike in Schleiz; another podium for Nebel
The factory supported KTM Germany Superbike Team had both success and disappointment in IDM in Schleiz at the weekend with Stefan Nebel’s result a cause for celebration while Didier van Keymeulen was unable to start because of injury problems.
The team’s German rider Nebel quickly found his usual tempo after a four-week break in the race calendar with a coveted front row starting position as a result of his third place in qualifying on the high speed natural racing circuit. The KTM factory rider was able to fight for victory in both races on his KTM RC8R as well as securing yet another podium place and valuable championship points with his third and fourth place finishes.

Unfortunately the injured Didier van Keymeulen was forced to leave the circuit empty handed after a medical check of his injured hand indicated that it was more serious than originally thought. Because the bones are not healing according to expectations the KTM rider will now have to undergo a second operation. Whether the disappointed Belgian rider will be able to race again in 2009 is presently unlikely. The entire team wish “DVK” all the best and a speedy comeback. He was the one who caused a sensation by giving the brand new team pole position and it’s first ever podium place at the Lausitz circuit at the beginning of the season.

Race One
Enjoying the best of weather Stefan Nebel emulated his successful KTM motocross colleagues by snatching the “holeshot“on the tradition-rich circuit. The 28-year-old professional held the lead from time to time in front of championship leaders Joerg Teuchart and Arne Tode in a race that saw much jockeying for position. At the culmination of what was a thrilling race, the 34,000 spectators in Schleiz experienced a spectacular if unusual finish. Behind winner Dario Giuseppetti and second placed Joerg Teuchert, KTM rider Nebel and Werner Daemen crossed the finish line at exactly the same moment. After the photo finish photos were examined, both riders were awarded third place and invited to the podium ceremony.

Race Two
Never was the team’s first victory as close as in the second race of the day on the 3.8 km circuit. But in the end it was a small technical defect that spoilt the chances of the KTM professional rider. As in the first race, Nebel at first battled it out in a group of four. Then when both Daemen and Tode went down in the space of two laps, taking Teuchert with them, Stefan found himself as clear leader. But by the middle of the race his advantage had melted away and he ended the race in fourth position as a result of a defective sensor that affected the motor management. Despite this problem Nebel was still able to diligently collect championship points and return to second on the table. Now with 156 points he is now 12 points ahead of Werner Daemen with still two races in hand.

Stefan Nebel (3.4.)
“Race one also ended in a premier for me because I’ve never had to share a podium place before. But the fact remains that I fought with Werner for every millimetre and because of that the result is okay. I had some problems with grip in some passages so we tried other tyres for the second race. This also worked out well even if things were a bit wild at the beginning. I was the only one of the front group that did not crash and luckily I didn’t get caught up in it. I missed the win because of the defective sensor and the effect it had on the performance of the motor, which made me lose about a second per lap in the second half of the race. Of course I’m a bit upset, more than anything for the team because we were so competitive here. Because of this we’ll be fighting even harder in Assen.”

Didier van Keymeulen (DNS)
“I was really looking forward to Schleiz and I wanted to be fit again and right up front in the race on this circuit. This was why I was actually shocked at the medical report. I want to race – but at the moment I can’t and I have to accept the disappointment. In the end, being healthy again is the most important thing.”

Konrad Hefele – Team boss KTM Superbike Team Germany
“Unfortunately we were only able to start here with Stefan but everyone knows that it was better that way. With all the enthusiasm in the world the safety of the riders must be the priority. Get well soon Didi!” Stefan’s results were fantastic all weekend. We ere among the fastest, even though we had no test experience. That this was again good enough for another podium shows that we know that we are able to put our knowledge about the bike into better effect. As far as race two goes, without the defective sensor Stefan would have probably won. But there is no “if only” in motor racing. We therefore go to the next race in Assen in Holland just as motivated. “

Musquin returns to MX2 GP racing on KTM; snatches double victory in Lommel
After missing the last races at Uddevalla, Sweden, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Marvin Musquin of France was in winning form on the soft and tricky sand of Lommel Belgium to dominate the Mx2 GP on Sunday and return triumphantly to the top of the podium.

Joel Roelants of the KTM Factory Junior Team was second behind Musquin while Rui Goncalves of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing just missed the podium, finishing in fourth place. Despite missing the last GP, Musquin now has a 38-point lead in the championship standings with six races (three rounds and 150 points) still up for grabs. Goncalves, the factory team's Portuguese rider is in second place, 11 points ahead of Gautier Paulin of France.

Musquin dismisses the critics
With two impressive rides on Sunday, Musquin dismissed any critics that raised doubts about his ability on sand by dominating both motos for a clear and decisive 50-point tally in the twelfth round of the current season. The 19-year-old rider drew special praise from the KTM offroad Director Pit Beirer not only for his victory on the Lommel circuit but also because be has successfully come through some difficult negotiations involving switching teams. "Marvin is very strong mentally and he has been through a lot in the past weeks. He has given us a strong commitment and the results on the track today are the best answer to any of his critics," Beirer said.

Good training, perfect bike says Musquin
"I missed one GP but I came back strong and I am very satisfied with my result. My training has been going very well lately and my bike and the suspension are perfect," Musquin said. "Even though this is a very bumpy track I had no problems with the bike and for this I would like to thank my team and their great support. Now I have signed my contract (with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) for the next two years so I am very concentrated and relaxed." The young French rider said he was pleased to have delivered such a strong result in the sand after finishing only seventh in the soft sand at Valkenswaard at the GP of Benelux earlier in the season. "Maybe this result today has something to do with the bike," the newest member of the Red Bull KTM team line-up said.

Roelants strong on home circuit
It was also a very strong result for Roelants on the circuit that is his home territory. "It's great to be on the podium although I did expect to do well here at home," the young Belgian said. Roelants won his podium second place with an excellent 3-2 result in the two motos. "I tried hard to catch Rui in the first moto but I didn't manage it. Then in the second I tried to catch Marvin because I really wanted to win but he was just too fast. I am now going to concentrate of having a good result at Loket and I will try to beat Marvin when we race again on sand at Lierop," he said.
Rui battles stomach cramps in second moto
At the end of the day, Rui Goncalves had to settle for fourth place and in the second moto he had difficulties with stomach cramps and nausea. "Five minutes into the race I got the stomach cramps and after that I really struggled. I had no power and I was riding on the limit the whole time," he commented after the race. He also had trouble in the first heat where rain on the soft circuit created a real visibility issue. "I had to get rid of my goggles in the first lap and it was very tough going."

Strong basis for what can be the best team in the paddock, Beirer says.
After the day's racing, KTM's Offroad Director Pit Beirer offered congratulations to team boss Stefan Everts and the entire team, saying: "Now for sure we are putting together the basis of what can be the best team in the paddock. Winning three out of four races in Lommel (Max Nagl won the second MX1 moto) was a fantastic result for us and when we have results like this all the best riders want to be with us."

KTM Service Truck at Dakar Rally

KTM has decided to send an official service truck to the coming Dakar Rally in order to continue to provide the best possible service for private riders.

After the decision by rally promoter ASO to refrain, at least for the present time, from enforcing the new capacity regulations for non-professionals riders, the company whose machines dominate motorcycle rally sport has decided to continue to offer its official race service to KTM customers for the two upcoming editions of the Dakar Rally.

"We have a responsibility to our customers and because of this I am happy that we, together with ASO, have made it possible for the "KTM Customer Service" to take part for 2010 and 2011," explained KTM Motor Sport Director Winfried Kerschhaggl.

The KTM Service Truck will accompany the entire rally at least for the next two years to continue to supply the same level of spare parts plus logistical and technical services to private KTM rally riders and teams.

The world's leading manufacturer of offroad motorcycles therefore continues to place great worth in supporting the huge number of KTM privateers competing in the big rallies in the best possible way.

The withdrawal of the KTM Factory Team from the rally because of the short term, radical changes to the regulations by the organiser is final and is not influenced by this decision.

08-07-2009 - NEW SCHEDULE FOR BIKES REGULATION

Further to the numerous discussions that have taken place with the different actors of the motorcycles’ competition (amateurs competitors, professional competitors, preparators, manufacturers and International Motorcycle Federation) and facing the real interest shown by all the interlocutors, the goal of a maximum cubic capacity of 450 cc is maintained.

Nevertheless, so that the competitors can have more time, a new schedule has been set up.

For the Dakar 2010, the ASO Elite pilots must ride with a restrictor reducing the power of their bike, if its cubic capacity is over 450 cc. Or they may use a bike of a cubic capacity under or equal to 450 cc.
The other pilots are free to choose their bike with no restriction.

For the Dakar 2011, the ASO Elite pilots must imperatively ride a bike of a cubic capacity under or equal to 450 cc.
The other pilots must ride a bike of a cubic capacity under or equal to 450 cc, or a restrictor, if the cubic capacity is over 450 cc.

At last, for the Dakar 2012, all the pilots will ride 450 cc’s.

The restrictor is currently being developed and it will be delivered to the Elite pilots from mid July. This restrictor has been designed in order to have a similar weight / power ratio between the different cubic capacities.

Mike Lafferty lidera podium completo de KTMs na 8a Etapa do National Enduro Series Americano

Shock Doctor/KTM Factory rider Mike Lafferty continued his come back win streak at the eighth round of the National Enduro Series when he took the win over his teammate Russell Bobbitt.

This win is special to me because I consider this round a hometown race for me and I had many family members come out and support me today." Not only did Lafferty have family members to support him during the race. But his brothers, Jack and Rich along with his father all suited up and raced as well.

Cervantes takes 2-1 result in E3 in Mexico
Ivan Cervantes of the KTM Enduro Factory Team came away from the two E3 World Championship rounds in Mexico's Valle de Bravo with an excellent 2-1 result to further boost his title chances with just four races to go.

The team's Spanish rider finished second behind Frenchman Sebastian Guillaume on Saturday, continually picking up his performance on the difficult track as the day progressed. Riders tacked the challenges of hard terrain on top of altitudes of up to 2200 meters in the mountainous lakeside resort just two hours from Mexico City. Cervantes went one better in Sunday's race, recovering from a crash in the second test, where he lost about 30 seconds to take the victory on the day. He now has a 22-point lead in the standings with four races still in hand.

Cervantes KTM team-mate Samuli Aro was just off the podium in fourth place for both races and is currently in fourth place in the standings. Aro however was the winner of the KTM Super Test on Friday night which was held on the shores of the lake at Valle de Bravo. The Super Test drew large crowds to watch the world's best Enduro riders in action and is a new feature of the championship that is proving to be a crowd winner and a value added attraction for the sport.

Fabio Farioli, team boss of the KTM Enduro Factory Team reported that the well run event was much tougher than riders had first expected, with the high altitude affecting both bikes and riders.

A saida ( via aérea ), será dia 01/quinta-feira e o retorno dia 12 /segunda-feira (feriado).

Oportunamente informaremos.

As motocicletas deverão "obrigatoriamente" ser ONN / OFF Road, ou seja, KTM / Adv, BMW / Gs, HONDA / Varadero...

É recomendado tambem o uso de pneus tipo OFF, PIRELLI Scorpion RALLY, MICHELIN Desert, METZELER Karoo...
